Exclusive use by Terling Primary School:

In order to hold their swimming lessons, Terling Primary School will have exclusive use of the pool one day per week (usually Wednesday) between 10.00am to 12 noon & 1.00pm to 3.00pm from beginning of June until the end of term. Look out for notices at the pool.

Voluntary basis of club:

When swimming a ‘Steward’ must always be present. Stewards are adult members who annually learn a few lifesaving skills and ensure the rules of the club are followed.

Everyday, stewards volunteer to allow the community to swim: 3.20pm-5.30pm on school days and 2-5pm at weekends and school holidays.

In return a steward can take family and friends to the pool at any time the pool is open.

IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SAFETY AND TO COMPLY WITH OUR INSURANCE POLICY THAT A STEWARD IS ON DUTY DURING THE AFTERNOON SESSIONS - IF THERE IS NO STEWARD ON DUTY THE POOL CANNOT OPEN.

Tickets must be shown to the duty Stewards when arriving at the pool - Under no circumstances will you be allowed into the pool without a ticket.

MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN CHILDREN EITHER IN OR OUT OF THE POOL - Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Volunteers needed:

The club is run entirely by a group of volunteers, but we are always looking for more support. The commitment need only be temporary or intermittent depending on what time you can spare.

We are always looking for more people to join as Stewards. You learn some potentially lifesaving skills and get use the pool at any time rather than relying on others to steward for you and your family. The course is very informal, run by a great bunch of volunteers who have become community lifesaving instructors.

Additionally, we would love for anyone to help as:

Board Member – usually 3 meetings a year – come and help set the club rules and give ideas

Daily checks – joint the team that checks the pool water quality twice daily – there is flexibility in when you do it if, for example, you can’t do mornings or weekends etc. Come and join the merry band; there isn’t much to learn and it’s not hard.

Cleaning – sign up for a week or share a week with a friend or partner. It doesn’t take long and you get a key for the week.

Interested? Please contact the Secretary, Jane Carr (07970 929537) or chat to a board member
